Who Knows You Better?
(Read: Psalm 139)
Does God know everything about you?
If you said No, then think about an example. And now He knows.
If you said Yes, then you’re right, there is nothing God doesn’t know about us. He knows our thoughts, our habits, our talents, and everything else that makes us unique.
But how does He know? Because He created/designed us. This psalm speaks about all the ways God knows us. He knows your strengths and your weaknesses. He knows your flaws, but He also knows your beauty. In the event that you don’t have a list of things that God spent extra time perfecting in you I would like you to make one. I want you to always be reminded of all the ways that God has made you beautiful, and special. You are precious in His sight.
I want you to keep this in mind when for whatever reason you don’t feel smart enough, or pretty enough, or strong enough. Not just because I want you to remember how spectacular you are, but because I need you to remember how fantastic your Creator is. When you criticize yourself, you’re criticizing God’s work. He doesn’t hold it against you, but you shouldn’t make a habit of it.
Instead, make a habit of thanking Him for all of your strengths, and even for your weaknesses, because He wants the chance to be everything you lack. He wants to be your source of beauty when you don’t feel pretty. He longs to be your strength when you feel weak. He we will give you wisdom when you ask, and when you don’t feel so smart.
It’s easy to get caught up with all kinds of standards, but it doesn’t matter where you are, or what anyone else says, what God says should be our standard and Psalm 139 tells us how God feels about us. So whenever you’re not sure, go ahead and look at all the ways that He is mindful of us. You can keep Him at His Word, that’s for sure.
